I went to visit my daughter, Mimie, who lives on her own now. She lives in a lovely neighborhood with well tended lawns and caring neighbors. I had come to check-in on Thanksgiving plans and I have to admit that I wasn’t quite in the holiday mood. As I rounded the bend to her home, there stood this proud Turkey, welcoming me to the season! She was so excited to show it to me. We never had one of these but I could tell, Mimie had been waiting to have one. I stayed for a bit, ironed out all the plans and as I left she said ‘thank you.’ I had to dart to the car so as to bawl on my own and even as I write this, tears well up. She gave thanks.
A Simple Gift of Thanks
As this season begins, let us remember the simple act of giving thanks. Thanks to all the wonderful clients who entrust their incredible businesses/lives/family/items in your hands; thanks to all the amazing vendors who are truly friends and have stuck with you through think and thin; and thanks to all the special people you work with who work tirelessly support the passion and growth of your business. No complicated promotions, elaborate dinner parties or series of ads will trump these two words: Thank you.
