Ah, finally! This has been a long winter for us in the Connecticut and Massachusetts area. We fully anticipate these first days of spring dreaming of some outdoor chores and great walks. Then, BAM, 6″ of snow in the forecast and we are back to snowblowers and early school dismissals!
Spring Backfires
But alas, work goes on and the spring is always a busy season. Many budgets have been approved, trade shows are in full swings and websites are getting spruced up. But even in business, spring can have some backfires. We have seen more than one client veering from their business plan, distracted from the newest shiny techno concept. Our job is to keep focused and bring everyone back to point. Lucky for us, clients have grown to appreciate our determination so all is good!
Spring’s Opportunities
The spring can also be a time of great opportunity. We see many new ideas that could benefit from some of the advanced technology that is being introduced today. In those cases we visit innovations to see if they mesh with the plan and would be beneficial to incorporate in the second quarter.
Spring Cleaning
Lastly, spring is a great time for cleaning. Many clients tend to their sites continually. (kudos) We set monthly intentions and site updates are part of that process. If using an system like WordPress or Drupal, it’s important to keep them and their plugins/modules updated. With a bit of coordination to ensure to site can handle the update, all is smooth sailing. For a typical site, it’s good to have a good spring clean built into your yearly plan. We aren’t immune to this. Rob Koehn of Denver, Colorado pointed out a reciprocal link on my site that was outdated. (Thanks Rob!) Now thats on our ‘spring cleaning’ list.
