People who know me, know it took everything not to put an exclamation point at the end of that title! (Got one in!…two) With a word like wow, how can one resist?
This fall in New England is a perfect example of managed expectations with a side order of WOW. We all know fall is on the way. Nature gives us a few cool nights and a couple of windy days and we dutifully get out our sweaters. Fall is a participatory season: we are required to go to fall festivals, carve pumpkins, and make pies or just eat them. It’s the leaf peeping tour when nature provides the WOW. You have probably made the same trip each year (you know what to expect,) but every time nature doesn’t disappoint to pull out the stops. The sheer majesty of colors can take your breath away. Ah! or WOW!
Managed Wow
In web site development the WOW factor can be easily created with planning. With effective navigation and a great schedule of updates to content and graphics, your visitors have a reasonable expectation that your site represents your business. The WOW comes in when you take the time to analyze how the visitors are using your site, listen to their comments and suggestions, and remain nimble with your upgrades. This ‘planning to plan’ provides the WOW they are hoping for. And, just like in the fall, half the fun is the anticipation, planning to build in a bit of hype is what keeps visitors coming back for the WOW.
