My pup is an avid show watcher. Unlike her predecessor, Nina is a high tech viewer. She will watch on the PC or the TV, goodness, she has snagged looks on the iPad and iPhone with interest. She loves the animals, especially when they ‘talk’ to her. She thinks Animal Planet was made for her and don’t get me started about YouTube! She is an outlier, a demographic the show producers never counted on. But she has an ‘owner’ (owner=revenue) who wants to keep her happy. She is a niche target audience with fringe influence.
Visitors to Bark About
When we ask our clients who their ideal site visitor(s) is, many will say ‘everyone.’ We will continue to probe further, past ‘everyone,’ ‘someone,’ until we get to the nitty gritty of what that visitor(s) looks and acts like. We know from experience, if you know your ideal visitor(s) to your site, you will happily welcome all other fringe visitors with gusto.
The fun comes after your site has been up for a while and you’ve been tracking the analytics. All of a sudden, trends become evident and you have a game changer on your hands. With a bit of planning though, you can be ready to provide content specific to your new visitor and have a new type of client on your hands. That’s you, remaining nimble and accepting!
Animal Planet didn’t anticipate puppies would love their shows, but they welcome the puppy now, knowing the puppy has an owner!
