Here at Nurenu we look forward to the Super Bowl every year… But like many other people we know, we’re in it for the ads! It’s like Christmas, seeing new ads popping up on YouTube every day leading up to the big game.
And since it’s that special time of year again, we thought it’d be fun to share some of our favorites- both from this year, and from years past.
Weiner Stampede: Heinz
This is an early contender for the office favorite this year. How can you say no to puppies? We also like that it’s clever- using Dachshunds to sell ketchup- it’s not a combination most people would have thought of, but we all immediately get it. Humor, wit and a sense of fun mean that this one has been shared all over Facebook. Kudos to DAVID Miami for such creativity.
Bud-Weis-Er: Budweiser
This is a classic of the genre, one that first aired in 1995, but still gets spoofed in popular culture today. (Simpsons, anyone?) It’s on the top of many lists of Superbowl ads, and was the first one that came to mind for a lot of people. It works partially because it’s so simple, but again, the fact that it’s also unexpected is what makes it stick in your mind.
Parisian Love: Google
This one tugs at your heartstrings- and it does it all without saying a word. It’s the epitome of the maxim “show, don’t tell.” They chose a simple concept- the search bar- and showed us both a story, and a hundred different ways their product can be used.
The Force: Volkswagen
Using an international fandom like Star Wars doesn’t always pay off well for advertisers- fans can be an easy group to offend. But this is perfect: childhood, the iconic music, and an unexpected twist that make us all laugh and sigh.
